You Shared, We Listened – Carers Fest 2022 Survey Responses
Carers Fest is a free festival for carers in Greater Manchester with guests, groups and organisations to provide you with fun workshops, helpful information, speeches, performances and lots more. It takes place on Saturday 11 June from 11am – 4pm at Old Trafford Football Stadium.
When planning the festival in April, we wanted to give carers the opportunity to tell us what they would like to see and do.
Out of 82 responses to our online survey:
- 75% of carers from across Greater Manchester wanted a fun and relaxing day with a festival feel and a variety of activities, where they can chat, make friends and have a great time.
- 68% of carers wanted educational workshops and info.
- 48% of carers wanted to share and have their voices heard on issues affecting them.
- 46% of carers wanted an event which inspires action and campaigns for change.
- And 100% of carers wanted a day with all of the above!
Carers’ preferred activities include; mini treatments such as hand or head massages (73%), live music such as a choir or band (63%), mindfulness meditation (52%), dance (48%), cupcake decorating, card making and creative writing (37%) and an introduction to photography (35%).
The most popular workshop options were managing stress (73%), carers rights (62%) and welfare rights (54%).
Carers wanted to share how caring impacts their life, through arts and crafts activities or open mic (65%), read tips from fellow carers (61%) and share how the pandemic affected their caring role (43%).
We also spoke to an additional 29 carers individually and in groups and their wishes mirrored the above.
In light of 111 carers’ responses, we have planned Carers Fest to include all of the above… and more!
