Supporting carers at Gaddum
A carer is anyone of any age who cares – without pay – for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support.
If you need guidance, whether financial or practical, we can help. We offer support services for adults, and young carers aged 5 – 25.
Adult Carers
Who is this service for?
This service is for unwaged carers aged 18+ who live in Salford.
What does it cost?
This service is free.
Unwaged carers are not paid for the care they provide. They may have a job which they balance alongside their caring duties, but the actual care they provide isn’t paid for.
We’re here to support you. Here’s some of the things we can help you with.
Carers Assessments
A carers assessment is a discussion with you, the carer, and a support worker about your needs as a carer.
It’s not a test and the assessor will not penalise you for the care you provide. The assessment might recommend things like having a break, help with transport, training on lifting and safely, details of local support groups, benefits advice and more.
Visit our Carers Salford page to fill in our referral form.
One to one support
You know what they say, a problem shared is a problem halved, and if you are struggling as a carer and just need someone to talk to, we offer a certain number of one to one sessions with a carers support worker.
Visit our Carers Salford page to fill in our referral form.
Groups and Events
We also have a range of events for carers in Salford including carers walks, coffee mornings, wellbeing courses, workshops, focus groups and more.
